Today, Friday, November 4, 2016, is “Love Your Lawyer Day.” The day is an honorary holiday that originated in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Lawyer Nader Anise, the Day’s founder, specializes in legal marketing. He has made it his mission to bring respect to the legal profession through his nonprofit group, American Lawyers Public Image Association. Last year, the American Bar Association made it official nationwide, declaring the first Friday of each November as Love Your Lawyer Day.
“I was kind of tired of lawyers getting beat up on in terms of their image,” Anise told Florida’s SunSentinel. “Lawyers are basically vilified in society and by society, mainly they are doing their job … I wanted to put a day to say to lawyers, thanks for doing a good job, and especially for those who give access to justice.”
Avvo is partaking in the event as well through their Lawyernomics Resource Center. Avvo is a site where attorneys can “endorse” other attorneys and clients can review their attorneys.
Anise has been featured in the Wall Street Journal and Forbes talking about the honorary day, which has been growing in popularity over the years. With the help of the Florida Bar and other bar associations, the day went viral, with countless online posts, photos and #loveyourlawyerday hashtags.
