Laura Darby
Laura joined Anderson Boback & Marshall in her first year of practicing law, after being admitted to the Illinois Bar and swearing the oath of office as an attorney in November of 2021. Laura is a committed and passionate fighter for her clients, and is a diligent and effective arguer and legal writer. Laura prides herself on working as a team with her clients, and communicates with them about their goals for the case, and how to reach them.
Although she is prepared to argue the issues, the law, and her client’s positions on them, and will do so when necessary, Laura is also a skilled negotiator and collaborator, and in her cases where a resolution can be reached by agreement, she will strive for that outcome if it is possible, especially when doing so will save her clients needless legal expense. Laura has been described by her opponents as a perfectionist, a criticism Laura wears with honor.
What Laura Darby’s Clients are Saying:
“I really appreciated Laura’s help on my case. She was professional, empathetic, knowledgeable, and very quick to respond. She made an unfortunate situation much more tolerable with her ability to move my case along quickly and easily. Highly recommend.”
“Laura was very professional and did an excellent job. Great advice and did everything as quickly and easily as possible. I couldn’t have gone through the unfortunate process I had to and got the outcome I did without her.”
“We never go into a marriage thinking I have a great divorce attorney if this doesn’t work out. However, Laura Darby is the attorney you want in your back pocket if you do have to go through a divorce! Laura is extremely knowledgeable, caring, and will advocate for her clients. She will provide realistic, clear, and yet supportive guidance to her clients. I have been very lucky to call Laura my attorney and I know she always has my back during my divorce case. A divorce is not a pleasant experience but working with Laura has been a positive experience!”
Beyond Being a Lawyer:
Laura is a passionate Chicagoan and loves enjoying everything the remarkable city of Chicago offers, from the best restaurants in the world, to the best breweries, to spending time on the lakefront and riverfront paths, to adventuring to Garfield Park Conservatory and Chicago architecture tours – she’s proud to call Chicago home.
She also enjoys playing video games, playing with her dog Loki, and spending time in the garden with her wife, Sara. When Laura isn’t working and isn’t adventuring, she loves watching medical and true crime dramas and documentaries (and telling her friends about them). Additionally, Laura loves reading philosophy blogs, having gotten her undergraduate degree in philosophy from DePaul University.
