Monika Barrett grew up in a household of attorneys, sparking a lifelong interest in the law. Monika’s unique background in Constitutional Law, Civil Procedure, and Evidence has equipped her with a distinctive approach to the practice of Family Law.

Monika Barrett brings a unique perspective to family law, cultivated from a lifelong passion for law and a comprehensive understanding of Civil Procedure, Evidence, and Constitutional Law. Growing up in a family of attorneys, Monika developed a structured way of thinking and arguing from a young age. She holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Political Science, which laid a strong foundation for her legal career. Further, her role as a Teaching Assistant for Constitutional Law honed her ability to understand and explain complex legal concepts.
Prior to joining Anderson Boback & Marshall, Monika practiced civil litigation, serving as a Guardian ad Litem and Child Representative at the Loyola Civitas ChildLaw Center, and as a summer extern for Domestic Relations judges in Will County. This diverse background equips Monika with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate the intricacies of family law and advocate effectively for her clients.

Beyond Being a Lawyer:
Outside of work, Monika enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and dogs. A lifelong ice hockey enthusiast, she has played the sport since she was five years old, refereed games, taught children to skate, and now coaches a high school girls’ ice hockey team.
